Serial Fun  E-mail
There are lots of interesting facts and symbolism on United States currency. Oh I'm not going to bore you with all that stuff. But I am going to take advantage of some information that I know about serial numbers and have some fun with you... if you'll play along!

Just by forming a few simple math calculations, I'll be able to tell you what your serial number is. Don't believe me? Can YOU figure it out (on your own)? Try it out!!! This won't help you with your taxes or your investments, but it could actually stimulate your brain. Consider yourself warned!

This will work on any US made money - not just a one dollar bill as illustrated below. But since it's more likely that you'll have a dollar on you, take it out and look at the serial number. Disregard any letters that may be included - look solely at the numbers. You'll be asked to add pairs of numerals together and input your answers into the space provided.
Let's begin:
  1. Enter the total of the first and second digits
  2. Enter the total of the second and third digits
  3. Enter the total of the third and fourth digits
  4. Enter the total of the fourth and fifth digits
  5. Enter the total of the fifth and sixth digits
  6. Enter the total of the sixth and seventh digits
  7. Enter the total of the seventh and eighth digits
  8. Enter the total of the second and eighth digits

An example:
The dollar bill shown has numbers on it that correspond to each instruction. Instruction #1 says to enter the total of the first and second digits. The "1" on the dollar bill (it's red with a black outline) points to the first two digits. You would add 0+3 and enter the total, which is 3, into the empty box to the left of instruction #1. Here are the answers that you should put for the dollar bill shown:

1. 0 + 3 = 3
2. 3 + 7 = 10
3. 7 + 7 = 14
4. 7 + 9 = 16
5. 9 + 7 = 16
6. 7 + 1 = 8
7. 1 + 8 = 9
8. 3 + 8 = 11

Did you know?

The 2 most common browsers are Internet Explorer (IE) and Firefox. Firefox has steadily increased its user base while IE has been losing users. Why? Firefox is faster, easier to install, more extensible, more secure, and is leading in innovations of browser features. Not to mention that Firefox complies with the web browser standards set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium. But don't take my word for it. Try it for yourself!
